Stake is looking for a Head of Finance to join our team at our Bondi Junction HQ, with a flexible hybrid working model (3 days in the office, 2 WFH).

Responsibilities

About this role

The Head of Finance will lead all financial operations, with a focus on Statutory Finance, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), and Treasury. We are looking for a strategic leader who can manage day-to-day operations while also providing high-level financial guidance to the executive team. Reporting directly to the CFO/COO, this person will also demonstrate proactive commercial leadership across the Finance team and the broader Stake business.

Stake is growing with some exciting business aspirations and this role will be instrumental in accelerating our growth with confidence. Previous experience in understanding scale-up environments and how to deliver efficient processes and outcomes across all financial disciplines will be highly beneficial.

Further responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Act as a strategic advisor to the CFO/COO and executive team on financial matters as well as provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic initiatives and growth plans
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Demonstrate strong cross-functional collaboration and influencing skills, particularly into Product
  • Undertake financial analysis to support strategic decision-making & identify improvement opportunities
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and financial policies whilst understanding our risk appetite and support a robust approach to risk management
  • Develop and manage the annual budget, financial forecasts, and long-term financial plans
  • Prepare regular financial reports for the executive team and board; oversee the preparation of accurate and timely statutory financial statements and reports

Job requirements

A bit about you

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA, CA, CFA, CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Strong understanding of relevant financial reporting requirements
  • Proven experience in Statutory Finance, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), and Treasury
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and growing environment
  • M&A, cap raising, Finance industry experience is desirable
  • Experience in a similar stage business (Series B+) is highly desirable.
